Got Me Going Crazy {Chapter 53}

Posted on Sep 10, 2009 under dried flowers | 5 Comments

Song: What Did I Do To Your Heart by Jonas Brothers. I don’t own the song. All copyright belongs to Jonas Brothers and Hollywood Records. Yeah, it doesn’t have much to do with the chapter but… it’s an awesome song so… I’m using it. Ha =P

*Kevin’s POV*
My greeting upon surprising Leah and coming home for a few hours? Being bombarded with ideas for the wedding. Of course, we’ve talked about a few things here and there, but apparently Leah and my mom have come up with some ideas that I have yet to hear about. “We still have to finish the guest list, figure out all the decorations and the floral arrangements, where the reception is going to be held… we have so much to do. ” Leah said, rubbing her temples. “Sweetie, relax. We’ll have everything ready. We’ve still got plenty of time to work everything out.” I said. “Kevin, you’ve got about four months.” My mom informed me. “It takes quite some time to plan a wedding. And it’s going to be very hard with the schedule we’ve got for this fall.” “I know mom, I know.” So the next hour was spent sorting out all the details and going over the guest list. When we were finally done, Leah and I decided to go for a swim. We walked outside and I put our towels down on a chair. “This is a great way to spend the time I’ve got with you.” I said, somewhat sarcastically. Leah laughed and grabbed my hand. “The water is probably really cold.” She said. “Yeah, but it’s really hot out.” I said, a smile forming on my face as I walked over to the edge of the pool. Leah tried to let go of my hand but I held it tighter. “Kevin, don’t, c’mon…” She said. “I’ll get in eventu-AH!” I jumped into the pool with her before she could finish her sentence. When we surfaced a few seconds later, she splashed water in my face. “Hey! That wasn’t nice!” I said matter-of-factly. “Neither was dragging me into the pool like that!” Leah said, but I could see the smile playing in her eyes. I kissed her before she could say anything else. Her arms automatically wrapped around my neck. I pulled away from her and dived back under. I came back up about ten feet away from where I was before. Leah was still standing there with her arms crossed, shaking her head. I laughed at her and swam back to where she was standing. I wrapped my arms around her waist and kissed her again. Her arms wound themselves back around my neck as she continued to kiss me. I pulled away from her and moved my lips down to her neck. “Kevin, we’re outside…” Leah said warningly. “I know.” I said simply. “Kevin, there could be paparazzi anywhere.” She said. “So?” I mubmled into her neck. She laughed, causing her throat to vibrate . “We could go inside if you want…” I said, still kissing her neck. She pulled away from me without hesitation and hopped out of the pool. I stood there in confusion for a second. “Are you coming?” Leah asked. I looked up at her to see that she had an almost seductive smirk on her face. I laughed and followed her out of the pool, grabbing the towels on my way inside. I threw one at her as we stepped into the kitchen. We dried ourselves off a little and Leah put her towel down on a stool. I wrapped mine around myself as she walked over to me.

Sorry it’s kinda short, but the next chapter/part will be up tomorrow hopefully! I don’t have time to post it tonight =( Comment please!

hydropond poblano peppers 60 days

Posted on Jun 17, 2009 under dried pods | No Comment

The poblano is a very mild chile pepper originating in the State of Puebla, Mexico. Dried, it is called ancho chile. One of the most popular peppers grown in Mexico, the plant (of the species Capsicum annuum) is multi-stemmed, and can reach over 25 inches in height. The pod itself is about three to six inches long, and about two to three inches wide. An immature poblano is dark purplish green in color, but eventually turns a red so dark as to be nearly black. It can be prepared a number of ways, commonly including: dried, coated in whipped egg (capeado) and fried, stuffed, or in mole sauces. It is particularly popular during the Mexican independence festivities as part of a sophisticated dish called Chiles en Nogada which incorporates green, white and red ingredients corresponding to the colors of the Mexican flag. This very well may be considered as one of Mexico’s most symbolic dishes by its nationals. Poblanos are also popular in the United States and can be found in many grocery stores in the states bordering Mexico and in urban areas.
After being roasted and peeled (which improves the texture by removing the waxy skin), it can be preserved by either canning or freezing. Storing Poblanos in airtight containers will also suffice for several months.
When dried, this pepper becomes a broad, flat, heart-shaped pod called an ancho chile (meaning “wide” in Spanish), often ground into a powder used for flavoring recipes.
A closely related variety is the Mulato, which is darker in color, sweeter in flavor, and softer in texture.
“Poblano” is also the word for an inhabitant of Puebla, Mexico. . CLEMSON SPINELESS ..This spineless variety of okra is the most popular. The 4—5′ tall plants produce medium-green pods measuring 3″—9″ long. Okra is used as the thickening agent in Cajun gumbo, but it also can be boiled, broiled, fried, roasted, steamed, canned, or pickled. Use dried pods in flower arrangements!
Soil & Water: Okra prefers moderately rich soil. Its low water requirements make it an easy plant to grow.
Planting & Growing: Okra is heat loving. Sow seeds outside in spring after all danger of frost has passed, when the soil temperature has reached 70°F. It’s a good succession plant after early, spring-maturing crops. Expect good yields on this 4′-tall, bushy plant.
Harvesting & Storage: Pick okra pods when they are 2″—3″ long for tenderness. They are best tasting when eaten the same day. Some people develop a contact dermatitis while handling okra; avoid the itchiness by wearing a long-sleeved shirt and gloves.
