Progress Trap Progress trap combined synthetic technological and organic materials to create a dystopic view of a near future mechanical family structure. From a projector placed on top of a log, the image of the family was projected on a backdrop specifically cut to fit the movements of the family. This backdrop was supported on a small mound of real grass growing silk flowers. The image that was manipulated was taken from literature distributed by an orthodox Christian religion that I had grown up studying. While the participants appear happy there are some increasingly questionable subtexts in their actions. Mechanical Bliss. Progress trap was part of a larger installation title Paradise in Progress created in 2005.
