How do you store silk flowers without crushing them?
Posted on Jun 23, 2009 under silk flowers | 4 CommentsCan anyone suggest how to store silk flowers so as not to crush them. Some flowers can snap back but some can't. I'd rather not find out which ones of mine can't as they are expensive. I'm looking for a way to store them in an upright position in a small walk-in closet. I have them loosely packed in boxes now but this is not an ideal long-term storage remedy for me. I want them organized and in pristine condition.
Thanks for the help!
A shoe holder would work. The kind that hangs from the pole, and has dozens of plastic pockets.

Using a small walk in closet…..get some inexpensive upright vases. Plastics from Target, etc…..arrange and set the flowers in the container and then in a large leaf bag…and tie. Don't crowd them, however, enough to keep them in place. You can even get some "packing popcorn" to use for stabilizing from bottom up. It's almost better to keep them upright "close" for support. You can most likely get 8-10 containers in a 3-4 ft space.

Unless they were handmade where you purchased them they were shipped bundled together in a cardboard box. You can lightly suppor the petals with some tissue if you are afaid of crushing them but for the most part you can pack them into boxes laying them in alternating rows so that each flower head is slightly below the next and then return in the same manner fromthe bottom to the top. store flat on shelf. Do not stack them too high unless using very sturdy boxes.
