Does anyone know where to find fake black or deep purple calla lilies? Preferably silk flowers?

Posted on Feb 01, 2009 under silk flowers | 7 Comments

I'm getting married in December and my colors are red and black, I am having difficulties finding silk black (also known as deep purple) calla lilies, it kills me to spend a lot of money on fresh flowers that will die the next day!!
If you are going to be rude about my choice of using silk flowers please dont post. I'm asking for information on where to find flowers not for you to judge about my choices.

You should really talk to your local florist.

I bought my silk flowers from Garden Ridge, Michael's and Hobby Lobby. We made most of ours, so they wouldn't die, then had the florist make one for the cake table to match ours. Congratulations and best wishes!

Get the real thing or skip it altogether. There is nothing worse than fake flowers, even if they "expensive" or "high quality". Flowers are symbolic of new life. But if you want to symbolize your marriage with falacy, that's up to you. The price of the fresh flowers and the look and feel will far outweigh the fact that instead of them dying the next day you now have a hundred ugly fake flowers on your hands to dispose of.

I'm doing silks as well. It's true; you do get a lot of "iffy" feed back from people. Some of us just can't afford it or simple don't want the hassle of real flowers. I've used afloral.com and have gotten some really good looking silks. I haven't used their callas but I have seen their Gerberas and roses. Very nice. I also have 4 bouquets that they made already for pew decorations that look very lovely. All they need is a little bit of ribbon and they are good to go.

It's not black but they call it eggplant.

Here's the link for the calla page:

The advantage of silk is that you don't have to go through the mess of preserving your bouquet and whatever decorations you have, you can donate to a cemetery or nursing home. Hell, if the boquets/bouts./corsages look good enough, sell them on ebay or something. I'm sure there are tight budgeted brides out there who will think they are stunning and aren't so picky.

Your marriage will not be a "falacy" if you use fake. I can't believe that…
