Cystic Fibrosis- a hereditary disorder affecting the exocrine glands. It causes the production of abnormally thick mucus, leading to the blockage of the pancreatic ducts, intestines, and bronchi and often resulting in respiratory infection.

She needed a lung transplant in order to live, unfortunately time ran out. Commit for life, become an organ donor and save one. You know your doing a good thing.

I’m sorry about your friend, Heather… It hurts deeply when a fellow CF patient dies — particularly when they die waiting for lungs…
I have CF, and nine years ago a precious girl from Iowa named Kari became my hero when she and her family made the choice that gave me her lungs… Since that time, I’ve watched or been aware of far too many people waiting for lungs and other organs who do not survive the wait because there are not enough people and families like Kari’s in the world…
Your plea was eloquent and beautiful — if only among your friends, it will doubtless help them consider organ donation. And, hopefully, in the distant future — your little suggestion here will save lives… Thank you.
