Why is a carrot more orange than an orange?

The orange pigment in carrot is carotene. The term carotene is used for several related substances having the formula C40H56, which are synthesized by plants but cannot be made by animals. Carotene is an orange photosynthetic pigment important for photosynthesis. Carotenes are responsible for the orange color of the carrot and many other fruits and vegetables (for example, sweet potatoes and orange cantaloupe melon). Carotenes are also responsible for the orange colors in dry foliage. They also (in lower concentrations) impart the yellow coloration to milk-fat, butter, and egg yolk.

When they make carrots, they stick them in orangy type dyes, so really your wrong, oranges they take them and they take off their green crap by rubbing them on their rags, well thats what they do here in Michigan, I have no idea what they do in California

Well when man first saw an orange he said: "Wow, there's an orange fruit! I'll call it….an Orange!"
Then after a while he saw a carrot. So he said "Damn…"
