Medicinal Properties
*Oregano is a powerful germ killer.
*a poultice made from its crushed leaves will remove inflammation and relieve pain.
*cooking with it or making a tea from the dried leaves aids in digestion and helps cleanse the liver.
*rubbing the fresh or dried leaves on the temples and forehead will relieve tension headaches.
*inhaling steam made from boiling the dried leaves is useful for treating tonsillitis, bronchitis, asthma and colds.
*an herbalist might soak two tablespoons of dried leaves in a pint of water overnight to make a mouthwash that will clear up infections.
*chewing on the fresh leaves will ease the pain from a toothache.
*the fresh plant simmered in seed oil or wax can be applied with massage for rheumatic complaints.
