What you should do is put the flowers on a flat surface with the paper towel under it to absorb any fluid that may come from the flowers, and one on top, than put the books or wood boards on top. You dont need to press down on the flowers; the weight of the books and wood will do the pressing for you over time. The more weight you put on top the better and faster the flowers will press.
