Gentle Separation of Hair During Air Dry

Posted on Jul 31, 2009 under dried foliage | Comments are off

This is just a video segment for my Fotki Hair Album. It’s a step in my air drying technique for relaxed 4a type hair. It leaves the hair soft and detangled when dry.

When my hair is about 60-70% dry, I run my fingers through my hair from the roots to tips very vigorously to loosen up any hair that may be trying to stick together or harden while drying. It’s not a lot of manipulation, I see very minimal breakage when I do this, again if anything comes out it’s usually shedding hair. To see the full process please take a look at my fotki album.

Are dried marigold flowers harmful to cats?

Posted on Jul 30, 2009 under dried flowers | 3 Comments

My little 4 month old kitten got into some of the flowers I was drying to make potpourri with. She may have eaten some, but I’m not entirely sure.

Help!
She’s up running around with her sister right now, and she doesn’t seem sick. Maybe she didn’t eat any, but like I said, I can’t be sure becuase I just walked into the room and saw her playing with the flowers.

There are MANY plants that can be toxic to cats! Day Lilies are one, Poinsetta’s are another. If you Google "toxic plants for cats" you will find a wealth of information.
How is your baby now? If you see any negative or out of the normal behavior or eating/pooping patterns, then I would get her to the Vet as quickly as possible.

Good luck w/ your baby! And let this serve as a warning to you to be more careful in the future…Do not bring anything into the house
that could possibly cause your kitten grievous harm, for it is obvious that you love your baby! :)

Please keep us posted!

how do you press dried flowers?

Posted on Jul 28, 2009 under dried flowers | 3 Comments

i want to press the flowers that my boyfriend gave me, can i still do that when they are dried?

You can only press flowers if they are fresh, dried flowers will just crumble. To press fresh flowers, just put them between the pages of a thick book. They make special paper to assist the process that you can find in craft stores. Make sure the petals and leaves are nicely arranged before closing the book! Press them early next time.
