Simple Dust and Dried Mud effects – weathering for Tanks, AFV’s and Softskins

Posted on Jun 29, 2009 under dried foliage | 4 Comments

This video is a segment of some recent work I did edited down to describe the first step of my weathering process on running gear (tracks, wheels etc.). To keep the length of videos down I decided to split my recent filming, so this particular video describes just the simple, initial techniques. These can be used to good effect if you don’t want to get too heavy with your weathering, but may be a little simple for some of you veterans.

Please comment and rate if you enjoy !

The next video covers my next steps in the process, which should be followed shortly after by a video on weathering the interior then this model can go in the display case and out of the way !

Cheers

<UK> Dried Flower Confetti?

Posted on Jun 29, 2009 under dried flowers | 2 Comments

Does anyone know a website where I can buy dried petal confetti? I have tried sites like Confetti.com, and it would cost me around £100 to buy enough for 50 guests, so I'm looking for something a bit cheaper.

If there is nothing cheaper, I will go for paper confetti, but I'd like to look at the petals first.

Check to make sure whatever you're using the confetti for is allowed by your site. It makes a MESS. Since you're saying you want enough for each guest, are you using it for them to throw on you as your leave? Birdseed it typical now as it's not harmful to the environment or too messy to clean up.

What is your opinion of the short (WIP*) (DAQ*) poem?

Harmony with Nature
by Victoria Tarrani
(c) 0906.20

Last night I slept beneath the trees
in a dark and fearsome forrest;
taunted by nightmares of strange sounds,
eyes staring, fur in my face like
rabbit's wear to shield them from the cold.
Afraid, I drifted in sleep's maze.
Taxus foliage kept me dry
until the sun, straight overhead,
revived a rested me. The signs were
everywhere. Nature protected me.

~~
I never give thumbs down. I appreciate your time in reading and responding to my work. You will always get a thumbs up from me!
The original poem is in my starred questions. Here is the link: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgeMfIWicgxvoAbpjjX9HgHty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090620000400AAK3OPK&show=7#profile-info-HFDndzxOaa
If that doesn't work, you'll see a question about LITERATURE – it had to be part of nature.

I realy like how your verse flowed together and was so structuraly sound you have grown much in skill. I just wish your ending was a little better after such a deep and beautifull poem. I'd make the last two lines a little further along explaining why nature spared and protected you and leaves so many behind.

Most likely a stupid question about Orchids?

Posted on Jun 25, 2009 under dried foliage | 2 Comments

My friend's mom said she had 8 dying orchids that she didn't want but didn't want to throw away. I said I would take them. So, when they brought them over yesterday I was kind of stumped. They have lots of foliage which looks like Lily foliage & they have dried bulbs coming up from the dirt in 5 gallon pots. There is no way these are orchids, right? Orchids grow from seed not bulbs & they don't grow in dirt, right? I'm pretty sure these are something in the Lily family because the foliage looks exactly the same as a Day Lily but I can't tell because they're not flowering.

Is there any type of Orchid that grows from a bulb instead of seed & grows in dirt? I don't think so & they are swearing that these are orchids. Help? LOL! I don't care. I just don't get it. Thanks!

There are no stupid questions. You give the care for your new "oörchids" a try.

You could consider buying some information on Orchids.
